TUCSON, AZ (CBS5) -
Police are asking for the public's help finding a brazen cigarette thief who has struck Tucson-area Circle K stores eight times since November.
The suspect has stolen more than $4,000 worth of cigarettes between Nov. 1, 2012 and Jan. 9, 2013, Tucson police spokeswoman Sgt. Maria Hawke said.
The thief is targeting Circle K stores on the northwest side of the city. In each incident, he enters the store and walks directly behind the cashier counter, Hawke said.
He then removes packs and/or cartons of cigarettes from the display case, places them in a bag that he brought with him into the store, and leaves without paying, Hawke said.
In each incident, the suspect was captured on video surveillance, giving officers some leads to pursue. Surveillance images are giving officers something to go on. The suspect is described as a man between 20 to 25 years old. He is between 5'8" to 5'11" tall and weighs 150 to 180 pounds. He has brown hair.
In several of the crimes, the suspect was seen wearing the same jacket and/or ball cap. The ball cap has a large "LA" on the front and the jacket is green and black camouflage.
People with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts are urged to call 911 or 88-Crime.
