San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy (Shoots Woman ) Navy veteran by mistake in her own yard

The brother of a Navy veteran shot by a deputy in her own backyard wants the sheriff's department to admit its mistake and take responsibility for the incident.
Jennifer Orey, 36, was shot Sunday in a surprise encounter with two sheriff's deputies who were searching for a man reportedly in the area wearing a ski mask, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Orey was in her pajamas in her yard around 10:30 p.m. because she heard noises and thought it was her ex-husband, the newspaper reports.
Sheriff Gore

Orey and Deputy Luke Berhalter came in contact and the officer's firearm discharged at point-blank range, her brother James Morgan told local Fox 5 News.
"He fired without warning, saying freeze, or anything. Then just as she saw the black smoke coming out the barrel she turned her body," Morgan said. "The bullet went through her chest and her left nipple, into her shoulder and out her pinkie."
The deputy reportedly told her, "I'm sorry, you startled me," Morgan told the television station.
San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore told local 10News the deputies thought Orey's open gate looked suspicious, so they entered the backyard. When deputies ran into the woman, Berhalter had a "spontaneous reaction."
Berhalter, a San Diego County deputy for 21 months after seven years with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, has been placed on leave. The case has been handed over to the local prosecuting attorney for review.
Orey, whose family told the newspaper she was the first woman in the Navy to earn her wings of gold as a search and rescue swimmer, was released from hospital.
But still her brother wants answers.
"I feel they are trying to cover up their mistakes," Morgan told Fox 5 News. "They know the truth. They just don't want to admit it. All we want is for them to own up to their mistake and be responsible just like anybody else."

Serendipity ( A WOMAN'S Fortunate Accidental meeting ) Fate

Jennifer Vasilakos (Jennifer Vasilakos)
A woman who helped a lost man ended up with a surprise $20,000 gift.
That's what happened last month when Jennifer Vasilakos guided Ty Warner when he stopped and asked for driving directions in Santa Barbara, Calif.
While Warner didn't know exactly how to get to where he was going, Vasilakos didn't realize who she was helping.
Warner is the billionaire founder of Ty Inc., the Beanie Baby company.
Vasilakos was at the intersection trying to raise $20,000 for a stem cell procedure she needs to help save her life because she suffers from kidney failure and does not qualify for a transplant.
She describes their encounter in her blog:
He was true to his word. Vasilakos, an herbalist and Reiki teacher, received a package on July 16 with a $20,000 check and with a handwritten note from Warner. The note read in part, "Someone up there loves you because I was guided to meet you Saturday. I never lose my way, but fate had me lost and ask you for directions. The rest of the story I hope will be a wonderful new life for you."
Courtesty of Jennifer Vasilakos
"Of course I started crying, because that's what girls do," Vasilakos said. "I'm incredibly thankful to Ty Warner and to everyone who has supported me with love and prayer."
The check cleared a few weeks later and she booked a surgical procedure at an undisclosed foreign hospital to begin hematopoietic stem cell treatment. Hematopietic treatment takes a cell from the blood or bone marrow that can renew itself and develop into a variety of specialized cells.
"After I serendipitously met Jennifer, I further educated myself on her stem cell needs. I was shocked that this particular type of treatment wasn't available to her in the U.S.," Warner said in a media release. "My hope is that we can bring this lifesaving treatment to the forefront so that it can become more readily available and provide alternatives for people like Jennifer."
So the chance meeting allowed both Warner and Vasilakos to each continue on their journeys.

U.S Drone or LONE Wolf ( KILLS 16 in Pakistan) Target Rich Environment

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (Reuters) - Missile-firing U.S. drone aircraft killed at least 16 people on Friday in an attack in northwest Pakistan, two Pakistani intelligence officials.
Lone Wolf  strikes again 16 killed
The attacks targeted three walled compounds in the Shawal Valley, which is in the South Waziristan region on the border with Afghanistan, the officials said. The area has long been known as a sanctuary for militants.
The drone attacks are highly controversial in Pakistan, where there is anger over civilian casualties and what is perceived as a violation of Pakistani sovereignty.
But U.S. officials say that Pakistan does not control the militant-held territory where the drones strike. The United States considers drones a key weapon in the war against al Qaida and Taliban insurgents. (Reporting by Saud Mehsud; Writing by Katharine Houreld; Editing by Robert Birsel)

ICE AGENTS (File Law Suit Against Their OWN Agency)

A group of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents filed a lawsuit against their own agency Thursday, arguing that the Obama administration is not letting them fully identify and deport illegal immigrants.
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano says her department does not have the manpower or money to deport the 11 million illegal immigrants in the USA, so she issued a memorandum last year ordering immigration officials to focus their efforts on dangerous illegal immigrants. In June, Obama announced a program that will allow up to 1.7 million illegal immigrants brought to the USA as children to have deportations deferred for at least two years.

The 10 ICE agents suing Napolitano and ICE Director John Morton say those directives violate the Constitution and federal immigration law. "We are federal law enforcement officers who are being ordered to break the law," said Chris Crane, an ICE agent and president of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, a union for ICE employees. "This directive puts ICE agents and officers in a horrible position."
ICE spokesman Ross Feinstein did not comment on the lawsuit but said more than half of the nearly 400,000 illegal immigrants deported in 2011 had been convicted of crimes, the largest number in the agency's history. He said that shows the decision to focus on the most dangerous illegal immigrants is a policy that works, and June's decision to defer deportation for young illegal immigrants enhances that strategy.
A spokesman for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Obama may have overstepped his authority by ordering the deportation deferments, and Romney would forge a long-term solution with Congress instead of relying on Obama's "stop-gap measure."
"The courts will have to sort this out, but this kind of uncertainty is unacceptable as these young people brought here as children are seeking clarity on their long-term status," spokesman Ryan Williams said.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in a Dallas federal court, requests that a judge strike down the two directives and protect the agents from any retribution for their lawsuit.

Yankton Reservation ( 2 year OLD found Dead) In closet for 36 Hours

Crews Clean Up Wagner Meth House

The death of 2-year-old Reilee Lovell on the Yankton Reservation in Wagner has put a renewed focus on meth use by Native Americans.
Authorities say Taylor and Laurie Cournoyer were using meth and other drugs while Lovell was in their care. Her body was found inside a closet in a home on the reservation, at least 36 hours after she died.
The Yankton Sioux Tribe isn't alone in its struggle against methamphetamine abuse. And while local statistics are hard to come by, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health Report shows meth is disproportionately devastating Native American communities like Wagner.
According to the report, 74 percent of tribal police officer rank meth as the number one drug problem on reservations.
The Reilee Lovell case simply puts a face on what is believed to be a bigger problem. Because nearly half of all tribal police believe an increase in child neglect and abuse cases are linked to increased meth use.
Nationally, 40 percent of all violent crime on tribal land is also believed to be linked to meth use.
And officials as many as two-thirds of all domestic violence cases on the country's reservations could be linked to the use of the drug.
On Wednesday, a cleaning crew armed with coveralls and breathing masks is fighting back.
Joe Newcomb, with Santi-Kleen Environmental Solutions, oversees the cleanup and says traces of meth have contaminated nearly every surface of Taylor and Laurie Cournoyer's former home.

KILLER (Denied Parole) John Lennon Story

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — John Lennon's killer was denied release from prison in his seventh appearance before a parole board, New York corrections officials said.
Mark David Chapman, 57, was denied parole by a three-member board after a hearing Wednesday, the state Department of Corrections said Thursday. The transcript of his latest hearing wasn't immediately released.

Chapman shot Lennon in December 1980 outside the Manhattan apartment building where the former Beatle lived. He was sentenced in 1981 to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. The musician, singer and songwriter was 40.
"Despite your positive efforts while incarcerated, your release at this time would greatly undermine respect for the law and tend to trivialize the tragic loss of life which you caused as a result of this heinous, unprovoked, violent, cold and calculated crime," board member Sally Thompson wrote. Board members Joseph Crangle and Marc Coppola agreed

On the 911 recording, Deanna Cook pleads to her ex-husband to stop attacking her.
“Delvecchio, why are you doing this?” she screams during the Friday morning call, according to police documents. “Red, please stop, I didn’t do anything to you.”
Two Dallas police officers were sent to her home in the Rylie area of southeast Dallas. No one answered the door, and they left.
Two days later, her family found Cook, 32, dead in her home. Her ex-husband, 35-year-old Delvecchio Patrick, who had repeatedly threatened to kill her and been convicted of prior family violence attacks on her, finally succeeded in taking her life, authorities say. He is being held at Lew Sterrett Justice Center in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Friends and family of Cook, who said she went by “De-de,” criticized police for not doing more to try to help her on Friday.
“That’s negligence,” said friend Lakesha Davis, 37. “They kick in your door for everything else … It needs to be investigated.”
Dallas Police Chief David Brown did not respond to a request for comment, but the department issued a statement Monday evening stating that it is conducting a “comprehensive review” of how communications personnel and patrol officers handled the call.

BODY of (MISSING Woman Found) California Diver

  • Rebecca Weiss: Body of Missing California Diver Found (ABC News) Rebecca Weiss: Body of Missing …
A body that was recovered off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., this weekend has been identified as missing diver Rebecca Weiss.
Recreational divers Saturday found the body of 50 year old Weiss just 200 yards off her favorite beach.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted today.
Weiss, 50, was free diving in a cove near Rancho Palos Verdes on Aug. 11, her husband, Alan Weiss, told police. The experienced diver had gone alone, he said.
After divers, life guards and a Coast Guard helicopter spent four days searching for Weiss but failed to find a body, homicide detectives turned their attention to her husband.
When Rebecca Weiss did not return, Alan Weiss, 60, told detectives he went to search for her in areas where the two would frequently dive.
He told authorities that he found his wife's car in a parking lot and her dive bag on the shore where she presumably entered the water.
Rebecca's mother, Vilma Causey, told ABC News that her daughter is an experienced diver who was swimming in calm waters near a popular beach.
"I was there yesterday because I wanted to see where this happened, and it's in a cove, it's nice water. There's no strong waves or anything like that. It is a very, very busy place, a big hotel and restaurant. It's for tourists and everybody. There are a lot of people. If she was there, somebody would see her," Causey said.
Causey declined to speculate about whether something suspicious happened to her daughter, saying that she would wait for the investigation to be completed. She said that Rebecca and Alan have been together for 25 years, married for more than 18, and that they seemed to be happy.

U.S (DRONE) or( Lone Wolf ) HIT Target in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AP) — A missile launched from a U.S. drone struck a suspected militant hideout in a tribal region in northern Pakistan where allies of a powerful warlord were gathered Saturday, killing five of his supporters, Pakistani officials said.
The strike in North Waziristan against allies of Hafiz Gul Bahadur, a militant commander whose forces frequently target U.S. and other NATO troops in neighboring Afghanistan, comes amid speculation over whether Pakistan will launch an operation against militants in the tribal region.
The U.S. has pushed Pakistan repeatedly to take such a step and earlier this week U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta told The Associated Press that Pakistan was preparing an operation targeting the Pakistani Taliban in North Waziristan.
Pakistan has been reluctant to undertake an offensive there, saying its military is already overtaxed by fighting in other tribal areas and parts of Pakistan. But many in the U.S. believe Pakistan does not want to upset the many militant groups there such as the Haqqani network that could be useful allies in Afghanistan after foreign forces leave.
They should paint "lone wolf" on those Drones.

On Thursday, the top U.S. commander in the region, Gen. James Mattis, met with Pakistani army chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
During the meeting the Pakistani general repeated his government's stance that it would undertake an operation in North Waziristan only if it coincides with Pakistan's interests and not in response to outside pressure, according to a military press release.
Pakistan's foreign ministry condemned the latest drone attack.
"Pakistan has consistently maintained that these attacks are a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and are in contravention of international law," the ministry said in a statement.
Drone attacks are very unpopular in Pakistan, where they are seen as a violation of the country's sovereignty and responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians. The U.S. maintains the targeted strikes are directed against militants and necessary to combat groups like al-Qaida.

KIDNAP (Robbery Suspect) PHOENIX / TUCSON stabbed Female

PHOENIX - Police in Phoenix have reached out to the Tucson Police Department to help find a violent kidnapping and armed robbery suspect who may be headed for the Tucson area.
According to a news release from the Phoenix P.D.'s "Silent Witness" program, a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information on a man who kidnapped a woman, stole her vehicle, stabbed her multiple times, and left her in the desert.

On Friday, August 10, at about 10:23 a.m., the victim, a Hispanic woman, was at the Mesa Public Library when she was approached by the suspect, the news release states. The man asked her for a ride to the Greyhound station in Mesa.
The victim agreed to give the man a ride, but once in the car, the suspect threatened her with a knife, then stabbed her multiple times and restrained her in the back seat while stealing her vehicle. The suspect drove the victim to a remote area south of Florence, where the vehicle was disabled, the news release states.
The victim was left in the desert, and police believe the suspect may have gotten a ride from the vehicle on Arizona 79 and the Florence-Kelvin Highway.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 18 to 22 years old, 5'6" tall, 160 pounds, Spanish-speaking, and last seen wearing a black baseball cap (possibly with a Chicago White Sox logo), a grey t-shirt, blue basketball shorts, dark tennis shoes, and possible an orange or red cloth item in his pocket.

SAN DIEGO (MURDER Suspect) Ties to Sinaloa Cartel

San Diego murder suspect with cartel ties detained

San Diego murder suspect arrested in Tijuana
On July 24, the freeway traffic throughout downtown San Diego was at a standstill, sweaty and tired commuters wiped the sweat from their brows, as they inched forward, virtually gridlocked. There was always a little bit of a struggle for those who worked Downtown, but this wasn't normal. Unknown to the frustrated drivers, the reason for the snarled traffic was a homicide, which took place in the afternoon hours on First and Fir. Officers responding to the shooting quickly closed the freeway entrance to Interstate 5 north, with one of the main exit points blocked, things backed up quickly.

The shooting took place at a a Residential, Transitional living facility, for homeless teens, in the Bankers Hill area, an upscale neighborhood, adjacent to Balboa Park. However, the lower areas of the neighborhood are more mixed, with sober livings and by the week motels, next to low income health facilities. If you know what you are looking for, one can see the recently released convicts on their exercise time in the lower areas of Park West, wearing older clothes, and using cd players, to listen to R&B.
The victim was 27 year old Luis Espinoza, of Chula Vista, shot several times at the scene, he died at the hospital the following day. Another 21 year old man was also shot, but is recovering, police declined to release the victims's name. Two of the suspects, based on information gathered at the scene by responding officers were detained in El Cajon City, hours after the shooting, after a traffic stop. They were Ruben and Rodney Acosta, a father and son, aged 40, and 18. The Acostas were said to have been visiting someone at the facility, and alleged to have gotten into an argument with the visitors of another resident. The argument was heard throughout the afternoon by witnesses.
At some point, shots were fired, and the Acostas fled in a Ford Expedition, which was described to police. Three men were said to have fled the scene, but after police tracked the vehicle to El Cajon, only two were arrested. The third man, likely the shooter, was dropped off. Ruben Acosta Jr, , another son, 21 years old was named as the third suspect. Weeks after the shooting, he was arrested yesterday in Tijuana, in Colonia Libertad. Acosta was arrested by Tijuana PEP, and U.S Marshals, using information gathered in the weeks after the killing. Acosta's tattoos were apparently used to positively ID him in the Tijuana neighborhood where he was hiding out.
According to the Marshals, and the Tijuana authorities, Acosta, is linked to a cell in the service of the Sinaloa Cartel, and is known to participate in a variety of crimes, on both sides of the border, at the command of the cell leader. Acosta is wanted for murder, assault, drug trafficking, and robbery, in San Diego. The Acosta's are being held in seperate country jails, South Bay, George Bailey, and Central, with no bail for the senior Acosta, and 1,000,000 for the youngest. The shooting is being described as gang related, but no motive has been presented, at this point. It is likely all three of the Acosta's are involved in gang, and possibly drug trafficking activities.
It is very common for street level enforcers, with dual citizenship to flee to Tijuana, and the United States to escape arrest and prosecution. This arrest comes much sooner then the last high profile San Diego murder case, with ties to Tijuana and transnational crime organizations. Earlier this year, after more then a year on the run, Armando Perez, 37, was arrested in Tijuana, on the tourist strip, Revolucion. Perez, linked to the cell of Arellano Felix, through Melvin Quiterrez, allegedly murdered his wife, brutalizing her, and leaving her body in the bathroom of the Community College she attended.

The local public safety secretary says Matehuala Mayor-elect Edgar Morales Perez and aide Francisco Hernandez Colunga were returning from a birthday party when they were ambushed early Sunday in the town. Hernandez Colunga's wife was also in the car but survived the attack. The assailants remain at large.

Morales Perez had belonged to the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which regained the country's presidency last month. He was scheduled to take office in September. The National Action Party had governed Matehuala for years before his electoral win.

U.S NAVY (Destroyer ) HITS Japanese OIL Tanker in PERSIAN GULF

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer was left with a gaping hole on one side after it collided with an oil tanker early Sunday just outside the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The collision left a breach about 10 feet by 10 feet (three by three meters) in the starboard side of USS Porter. No one was injured on either vessel, the U.S. Navy said in a statement.
The collision with the Panamanian-flagged and Japanese-owned bulk oil tanker M/V Otowasan happened about 1 a.m. local time. Photos released by the Navy showed workers standing amid twisted metal and other debris hanging down from the hole.
The cause of the incident is under investigation, the Navy said, though the collision was not "combat related." There were no reports of spills or leakages from either the USS Porter or the Otowasan, the Navy said.

4 BEARS (BREAK into cabin ) DRINK 100 BEERS

A black bear walks into the lobby of The Lodge at Angel Fire ResortA mother bear and her three cubs broke into a Norwegian cabin this week, reportedly drinking more than 100 beers, eating all the food and even knocking over a wall.
"They had a hell of a party in there," owner Even Borthen Nilsen told The Local. "The entire cabin was destroyed."
Nilsen says paw prints on the cabin windows and bear excrement outside the dwelling leave little doubt what was responsible. And besides, your average criminals don't typically break down a wall when the front door will work just fine.
His mother and grandmother were first on the scene, finding the entire cabin ransacked, including a set of destroyed appliances.
"The beds and all kitchen appliances, stove, oven and cupboards and shelves were all smashed to pieces," he said.
ABC News adds that along with the 100 beers, the family of bears also reportedly ate all of the food inside the cabin, which included chocolate spread, honey (of course) and marshmallows.
