— A San Diego teacher was arrested Monday at Farb Middle School after he was found carrying a gun and a switchblade knife at the Tierrasanta campus, authorities said.
Ned Carter Walker, who teaches seventh- and eighth-grade English, was jailed on felony charges of having weapons on school grounds, said Rueben Littlejohn, the San Diego Unified School District’s police chief.
Littlejohn, speaking at a Tuesday news conference, said he knew of no threats made by Walker to use the weapons, but “we speculate that this employee was somewhat infatuated with firearms” and wanted to be ready in case of an armed intruder on campus.
It is a felony in California for anyone except sworn law officers to have weapons on a school campus, even if the person has a permit to carry a gun, Littlejohn said. He said he didn’t know if Walker had a concealed weapons permit.
Walker, 41, was held on $50,000 in bail but had been released from jail as of Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday afternoon, a man answering a phone number associated with Walker said, “I have no comment at this time.”
Walker has been placed on administrative leave and a substitute teacher was assigned to his classes, Farb Principal Courtney Rizzo said in a letter on the school website.
Some staff members told the principal on Monday morning that they had heard Walker was keeping ammunition in locked cabinets in his classroom, Littlejohn said. He said Walker had told some students and staff that he had a gun, and that he loves firearms.
Rizzo searched Walker’s classroom but wasn’t able to get into two locked cabinets. She contacted police, who checked the cabinets but found nothing improper, Littlejohn said.
“When we asked him initially, he denied possessing any weapons,” Littlejohn said. He said Walker let officers check his car in the school parking lot. Then, he said, they noticed a bulge in one of Walker’s pockets.
They patted him down and found a .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol with a 7-round magazine, and a switchblade knife with a 2 ½-inch blade, Littlejohn said.
Walker was arrested about 8:30 a.m. with no students around, the chief said. He said he didn’t know how long Walker had been carrying the pistol.
Walker has taught at Farb since 2006, and at Hamilton Elementary School for three years before that, Littlejohn said.
“There probably are a handful of teachers out there who know bringing a gun to school is not a good idea, but may not know it’s a felony,” Littlejohn said. “(Walker’s) intentions may be good, but nothing good came of this.”
Counselors were made available to students who wanted to talk about the incident.

Mohammad Al Qah’tani shot dead Mueed Al Qah’tani during a fight between the two, the ministry said in a statement carried by state news agency SPA.

His execution brings to 11 the number of people beheaded in Saudi Arabia so far this year.

In 2012, the kingdom beheaded 76 people, according to an AFP tally based on official figures. The US-based Human Rights Watch put the number at 69.

Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Saudi Arabia’s strict version of sharia.

North Korea ( Millions are to die of starvation- But they have a 7 kiloton detonation device)

North Korean nuclear crisis explodes

The only realistic opportunity of heading off a potentially disastrous confrontation lies with China

There can be little doubt that the nuclear test undertaken by North Korea yesterday represented a significant escalation in its long-running stand-off with the outside world. Coming soon after Pyongyang successfully fired an advanced three-stage version of its Nodong rocket system, with the range to hit the west coast of the US, the detonation of a device with an estimated yield of seven kilotons – just under half the power of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima at the end of the Second World War – suggests North Korea is closing in on its ambition of acquiring a home-grown nuclear arsenal.
The concept of “Songun” – Military First – remains deeply rooted in the North Korean psyche, even if it means allowing millions of the country’s citizens to die of starvation, which is what occurred in the Nineties when the national economy collapsed. Nor has there been any shift in this confrontational policy since Kim Jong-un succeeded his father as Supreme Leader in 2011. The disturbing advances in the nuclear programme have taken place on his watch.
Western attempts to bring Pyongyang to its senses have clearly made little headway, which is why the only realistic opportunity of heading off a potentially disastrous confrontation lies with China, North Korea’s communist supporter and largest trading partner. Chinese officials frequently complain that they exert little influence over their delinquent neighbour, but these claims are disingenuous. North Korea could not survive without Chinese support, and the fact that Kim Jong-un’s succession was decided in Beijing, rather than Pyongyang, tells its own story. The crisis in North Korea is now too serious for China to continue to turn a blind eye. Beijing should accept that a nuclear-armed Pyongyang is as much a danger to the Chinese as it is to the rest of the world.

Lebanon ( Honor killing - Brother kills sister for being pregnant ) Slap on wrist

Lebanese Man Impregnates His Sister, Kills Her in 'Honor Crime'

A man has killed his pregnant teenage sister in south Lebanon in what was seen as an honor crime - the murder of a woman accused of shaming her family.
Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) said Friday that the body of Baghdad Khaled al-Issa, 18, was found with stab wounds in her head and sides in the area of al-Wazzani.
Investigators discovered that her brother Jihad, 21, had killed her in what is described as an honor crime, VDL said.
It added that the victim was seven months pregnant.
Later on Friday, LBCI television reported that the investigation with Jihad revealed that he had raped his sister, which lead to her pregnancy.
"He confessed to raping his sister,” LBCI said, adding that Jihad claimed he was drunk when the incident happened.
The television channel added that he had only recently found out about the pregnancy and asked his sister to undergo an abortion, but she refused.
Every year thousands of women are killed for notions of family honor worldwide, mainly in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
In 2011, the Lebanese parliament approved a draft-law to cancel article 562 of the penal code that calls for limited punishments for honor killings.

Heart attack grill ( people over 350 pounds eat for free- thats sick )

Heart Attack Grill spokesman dies of apparent heart attack

(Heart Attack Grill)
A regular patron and unofficial spokesman for the Heart Attack Grill has died of an apparent heart attack, the restaurant's owner said on Monday.
John Alleman reportedly suffered a heart attack last week outside the Las Vegas restaurant, according to the Las Vegas Sun. The 52-year-old was taken off life support on Monday.
Alleman, who was not on the restaurant's payroll, inspired the "Patient John" character that appears on the restaurant's menu.
"He lived a very full life," Jon Basso, owner of the Heart Attack Grill, told the newspaper. "He will be missed."
“I told him if you keep eating like this, it’s going to kill ya,” Basso said. “He’d say, 'I just love your place, Jon.' He’s the only person I know who was probably at the restaurant more than I [was]; he’d be here every darned day.”
Alleman is the second unofficial Heart Attack Grill spokesman to die in as many years.
In March 2011, Blair River, the restaurant's 575-pound representative, died from complications stemming from pneumonia. He was 29.
"Cynical people might think this is funny," Basso said at the time of River's death. "But people who knew him are crying their eyes out. There is a lot of mourning going on around here. You couldn't have found a better person."
Founded in 2005, the unapologetically unhealthy restaurant employs waitresses dressed as nurses and serves butterfat milkshakes, "flatliner" fries and 9,982-calorie "quadruple bypass burgers." (Patrons who are able to finish them are escorted to their cars in wheelchairs.) Customers who weigh over 350 pounds eat free.
Since opening in Las Vegas in October 2011, there have been various reports of customers having medical emergencies while dining at the grill.
Last February, a man reportedly suffered a heart attack while eating a “triple bypass burger." According to Las Vegas' Fox 5 affiliate, he survived.
