New Delhi ( 2 children kidnapped from school 5 and 7 - Found dead )

Two children, kidnapped from school four days ago, found dead in Delhi
New Delhi: Two siblings who were allegedly kidnapped from their school four days ago were found dead in New Delhi today. Their bodies were found in decomposed state near Pragati Maidan in the heart of the city.

The children - a seven-year-old boy and his five-year-old sister - went missing four days ago from Mandawli in east Delhi. They had gone to their school on February 26, but did not return home.

The kidnappers called the parents a couple of times and demanded Rs. 30 lakh as ransom. They also informed the parents about the place they wanted them to come to with the desired money and fixed the time for meeting twice. The parents however say they did not go to pay the amount hoping the police would nab the culprits soon.

Sources in the police say the day the children went missing, their mother was mysteriously locked inside her house when she was about to leave to pick her children from the school. The school's management claims the children knew the person they left with.

"The children recognised the man as a family member. They called him "chacha" (uncle). He had come to pick them up earlier as well. The police have taken our statements and spoken to several students too who are helping them draw a sketch of the suspect," the school's principal said.

But the children's mother is inconsolable. "It is the fault of the school. I used to go there to bring them daily," she said.

Her husband works at a financial institution. He suspects his landlord's involvement in the kidnapping of his children.

Angry over the alleged security lapse at the school and inaction of the police, around a 100 people gathered outside Mandawli police station today and raised slogans. Protests also happened outside the school.

The capital saw much violent protests yesterday in Mangolpuri area, where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped at a primary school run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has announced the United States will provide $60 million to hand-picked Syrian rebel groups.
Kerry said the aid, to be provided “immediately in non-lethal assistance” would come in addition to “further steps” to be taken in working with the opposition fighters.
The American secretary of state made the statement at a meeting in Rome of the Friends of Syria following talks with Syrian National Council (SNC) leader Ahmed Moaz al-Khatib. The rebel leader had earlier threatened to boycott the meeting to protest the foot-dragging on support by Western backers.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is a “desperate leader,” said Kerry, who praised the SNC as the sole legitimate voice of the Syrian people. He emphasized Syrian bravery in facing “brutal regimes” and Iranian forces – possibly also an oblique reference to Hizbullah guerrilla fighters as well as the Syrian Army and Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
“No people should live in fear of their so-called leaders,” Kerry said. “We must meet the moment.” Kerry added that the U.S. would for the first time aid the rebels with food rations and medical supplies, and promised Washington would take “further steps” to help.

The announcement was also a blunt message that radical Islamist groups, including the 13-member Islamic Front for the Liberation of Syria, are not included on the list of those to receive support.
Many of the coalition’s member groups are linked to the international global jihad Al Qaeda terrorist organization. Moreover, the coalition split off from the main body of opposition forces some time ago.
Al Nusra Front is currently banned in the United States, appearing on the official list of terrorist organizations. The Islamic Front for the Liberation of Syria rejects any form of cooperation with the mainstream Syrian National Coalition (SNC) due to its ties with “foreign” Western nations .
On Saturday, the SNC is slated to hold elections for a government-in-exile which will choose a prime minister and a cabinet to begin the tasks of administration over areas in Syria which opposition forces now control.
The UK formally joined the United States on Thursday in its decision to train and equip opposition forces in their fight to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from power.
UK Foreign Secretary William Hague met in Rome to discuss the issue with members of the mainstream Syrian National Council (SNC) ahead of his meeting with Kerry at a gathering of the Friends of Syria, making good on a promise he extended last summer. At that time, Hague had pledged an extra five million pounds Sterling ($7.8 million) in non-lethal aid, to include medical supplies, communications equipment and body armor.
Hague had managed to persuade European Union leaders to tweak a sanction against weapons supplies to Syria in order to allow the Allies to provide armored military vehicles and body armor, as well as military training.

Bogota Colombia ( Ex mayor - in jail for extortion - embezzlement charges )

Bogota’s jailed ex-mayor again denied bail
Samuel Moreno
While awaiting trial for corruption allegations, the former mayor of Bogota, Samuel Moreno was denied bail Thursday.
The ex-mayor has been waiting for his day in court since September 2011 after he was removed from office due to extortion and embezzlement charges amongst others.
A criminal court judge reportedly claimed that the complexity of the process meant a public hearing must be pushed back even further, which is a sufficient enough reason to continue detaining Moreno.
The disgraced former mayor's most recent plea for bail was in July of 2012. He is currently being held in Bogota's La Picota prison.

Japan ( 2 U.S sailors get 10 years in prison for the rape of a Japanese woman )

2 U.S. sailors get 9-10 years for raping woman in Okinawa

TOKYO —

crime scene tapeTwo U.S. sailors who raped a Japanese woman in Okinawa last October were jailed on Friday for a crime that reignited long-smouldering anger against the American military in Japan.
The Naha District Court in Okinawa said Seaman Christopher Browning, 24, should go to prison for 10 years for the brutal rape of the young woman, from whom he also stole 7,000 yen.
Petty officer 3rd class Skyler Dozierwalker, 23, was jailed for nine years, also for raping the woman before dawn in a car park.
Browning and Dozierwalker, who were not stationed in Okinawa, had been drinking on the evening of the attack, and “were contemptible and violent”, Judge Hideyuki Suzuki said.
“The ruling may seem severe, but the damage to the feelings of the victim and residents is more severe,” he said in a statement after the case, according to Kyodo News.
During an earlier court appearance, the two men had admitted the rape, which caused outrage on the sub-tropical islands and beyond, and led to a nationwide night-time curfew on all U.S. military personnel in Japan.
Despite the curfew, misconduct involving servicemen, much of it drunken, has continued to fuel anti-U.S. sentiment in communities with bases.
Wary of yet another public relations disaster, the U.S. moved quickly to try to lower the temperature immediately after the rape, with Ambassador John Roos holding a special news conference at which he appeared visibly angry and upset.
“The United States will cooperate in every way possible with the Japanese authorities to address this terrible situation.”
“I understand the anger that many people feel with respect to this reported incident,” he said. “I have a 25-year-old daughter myself, so this is very personal to me.”
Okinawa is the reluctant host to more than half of the 47,000 American service personnel in Japan, and the crimes, noise and risk of accidents associated with their bases regularly provoke ire in the local community.

Iran: Suppressive “Public Security Plan” is launched

NCRI - The Iranian regime have began to implement the infamous “Public Security Plan,” the deputy chief of the State Security Forces in Central Province has announced.

Iraj Kakavand whose remarks were reported by state-run Media on Saturday (Feb 23) said: "In line with developing the security towards the end of the year (Iranian year ends on March 20).

“The Public Security Plan will be carried out in all cities over the country,” he added.

“The Public Security Plan” which is used by the regime to suppress people, was initially launched in April 2007. The police arrested dozens of people on the pretext of being “thugs” to increase public security.

The people arrested were sometimes beaten on camera in front of neighborhood inhabitants, or forced to wear hanging watering cans used for lavatory ablutions around their necks to humiliate them.

In one case the arrested people included a young Iranian who was previously arrested during Iran student demonstrations and had no criminal record.
