Mesa Az ( Ballpoint pen robbery suspect arrested- Failed attempt )

MESA, AZ - A man was booked for armed robbery Thursday in Mesa after he tried to rob a CVS store with a ballpoint pen, according to police.
The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. at Power and McDowell roads.
Daimarkus Maxwell, 23, walked into the store wearing a mask and brandishing a ballpoint pen held like a knife, police said.
Maxwell demanded money from the cash register, but the employee reportedly refused.
Police said Maxwell then ran out of the store.
A Mesa police officer later spotted a man matching the suspect description near a canal east of the CVS store.
When officers got to him, they found evidence linking him to the crime, police said.
Maxwell was arrested and booked for armed robbery.

Armed Bedouin tribesmen in Egypt's Sinai peninsula have abducted two tourists, an Israeli man and a Norwegian woman, as they travelled between two beach resorts, police said. Six gunmen intercepted the tourists' car and forced them into their truck on Friday, the officials said. The pair had been travelling between the southern resort of Taba, on the border with Israel, and Dahab. Norway's foreign ministry confirmed one of its citizens was abducted but gave no details, while an Egyptian police official said the woman was a 31-year-old Norwegian, after having earlier identified her as Belgian. A spate of such hostage takings, which usually last for no longer than 48 hours, broke out in the restive Sinai after an uprising in early 2011 forced out president Hosni Mubarak and battered his security services. The kidnappers are normally Bedouin who want to trade the hostages for jailed tribesmen. In Israel, police spokeswoman Luba Samri confirmed the abduction and identified the man as an Arab-Israeli resident of Eilat. Israel has repeatedly warned its tourists of threats of attacks in the Sinai, where fighters have waged a low-level insurgency against the military and police as well as attacks on Israel. But Friday's kidnapping did not appear politically motivated, with Bedouin sources in the area saying the kidnappers wanted to exchange the hostages for jailed relatives. On March 7, Bedouin kidnapped a British couple, only to release them within hours after talks with security officials. The Britons had been abducted from a bank in a town as they headed towards the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The crowd was so large that people spilled over into the foyer, nursery, and kitchen of the church, and another 40-50 people were standing outside listenting through the open windows. It was incredible to see the overwhelming outpouring of support for this courageous teacher, and to see the crowd rise in a standing ovation for her at the end of the night! People drove long distances to come and communicate to the people of Concrete, “You are not alone.” They came from as far as Olympia, Pierce County, Bellingham, Canada, Walla Walla, and Idaho.

JUAREZ -- Two agents with the Mexican Attorney General's Office, or PGR, were fatally shot Tuesday while traveling in an unmarked agency truck in the south-central part of Juárez.
Another man who was traveling with them was wounded and taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to officials.
The shooting occurred before noon at Tecnológico Avenue and Pedro Meneses Hoyos Street, near Central Park, one of the main family attractions in the city, officials said.
Preliminary reports

said that a group of heavily armed men shot at the agents from a moving vehicle. The agents were in a blue truck.
One of agents apparently got out of the truck in an attempt to escape. He fell facedown on the Tecnológico Avenue a few yards from the truck and died at the scene.
Officers with the Attorney General's Office confirmed that the two men killed were agents from the agency's Ministerial Federal Police.
The PGR did not disclose the names of the agents killed or of the man who was wounded.
Federal and Chihuahua state investigators and agents arrived at the scene and blocked off the northbound lanes of the Tecnológico Avenue for most of the afternoon. The PGR also launched an investigation.

Sandoval, spokesman for the Chihuahua Attorney General's Office, said the evidence state investigators and experts collected will be given to the PGR.
The state Attorney General's Office also will make its forensic lab available to support federal agents in the investigation, Sandoval said.

US colonel charged with giving security secrets to Chinese girlfriend

An American defence contractor has been charged with giving national security secrets to his younger Chinese girlfriend.

Benjamin Pierce Bishop, 59, stationed at the US Pacific Command in Hawaii, was arrested on Friday on allegations that he had sent his 27-year-old girlfriend, identified as "Person 1", highly sensitive information about US defence.

The classified information allegedly included details, sent to the woman via email, on nuclear weapons and US relations with international partners.

Mr Bishop was also accused of giving the woman information about America's ability to detect foreign governments' low- and medium-range ballistic missiles, the use of US early warning radar systems in the Pacific Rim, and the planned deployment of US strategic nuclear systems.

He is charged with one count of wilfully communicating national defence information to a person not entitled to receive it, and one count of unlawfully retaining documents related to national defence.

If he is convicted he could face a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Mr Bishop was working as a civilian defence contractor, though it is not known at which organisation.

The couple met at a conference about international military defence issues and began an intimate romantic relationship in July 2011.

Although Mr Bishop has had top secret security clearance since July 2002, his girlfriend had no clearance. He allegedly hid their relationship from his employers, despite his position and security clearance requiring him to report and contact with foreign nationals.

In November 2012, a court authorised search of his home found twelve documents all classified as "secret.

According to the affidavit, the woman asked Mr Bishop what Western countries knew about the "operation of a particular naval asset of People's Republic of China". Mr Bishop researched the issue, which was not part of his mandate, and was seen reading and collecting classified information, according to the claims.

Mr Bishop's court appointed lawyer, Birney Berver, stated, "Colonel Bishop has served his country for 29 years. He would never do anything to harm the United States".

Mr Berver said the man was a lieutenant colonel in the US Army Reserve.

A preliminary court hearing has been scheduled for 1st April and Mr Bishop is due to appear in court again later this week for a bail hearing.

China and the United States, the world's two largest economies, have long engaged in spying against each other.

The mother of a missing New Orleans-area school teacher said it is time to broaden the nearly three-week search for her daughter.

"It should be nationwide now," Toni Enclade of Long Beach, Calif., said. "As a mother, my instincts were leading me to know that she is not in any of the areas where they've been searching. I feel and believe that someone has Terrilynn."
Police are in their third week of searching for second-grade teacher Terrilynn Monnette, 26.
Originally from Long Beach, Monnette was last seen March 2 with friends at a bar called Parlay's in the Lakeview section of New Orleans. She left the bar around 4 o'clock that Saturday morning with a male acquaintance, ABC New Orleans affiliate WGNO-TV reported, telling her friends that she was going to take a nap in her car before driving home because she'd had a few drinks.
The bar manager told WGNO that Monnette and the man were talking in the parking lot "for a little while," but the bar's video surveillance showed they left in separate cars. "He went one way, she went the other," the manager said.

The man has been cleared by police, who say they have no suspects or persons of interest as their investigation continues.
