In a statement issued on Wednesday August 28, U.S. Foreign Secretary John Kerry called on Iran to cooperate with U.S. authorities to return three American citizens back to their country.
Mohabat News - Kerry says in the statement: "The United States respectfully asks the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to work cooperatively with us in our efforts to help U.S. citizens Robert Levinson, Amir Hekmati, and Saeed Abedini to return to their families."
Robert Levinson is a retired FBI agent who went missing on Kish Island in southern Iran in 2007. Iran has said, however, that it has no knowledge of his whereabouts.
Amir Hekmati is a U.S. citizen of Iranian descent who has been accused by the Iranian government of being a CIA agent. The former U.S. marine was arrested in 2011 when traveling to Iran allegedly to visit his grandmother. Hekmati was sentenced to death, but the sentence was overturned in the appellate court, and he is now awaiting retrial.
The United States has denied Hekmati's spying charges.
Saeed Abedini, who holds dual Iranian-American citizenship, is serving an eight-year sentence for alleged Christian proselytizing.
Kerry has expressed hopes that the new Iranian administration will be open to improving relations with Iran, writing: "President Rouhani has shared in his speeches and interviews over the past few months his hope and vision to improve the Governmentof the Islamic Republic of Iran's relationship with the world." /zamaneh

India ( A 2 yr old video was played of a lynching of two youths and a Riot broke out ) 28 killed

NEW DELHI – A video broadcast on the Internet sparked sectarian strife over the weekend that cost 28 people their lives in the northern Indian district of Muzaffarnagar, authorities said Monday.

Officials said early Monday morning that 21 people had died, but Arun Kumar, deputy police chief of Uttar Pradesh state, upped the death toll at noon to 28.

Kumar also raised to 90 the number of detentions made by police in the area, where a curfew has been imposed for the last two days and military units have been on patrol to maintain calm in the streets.

Tensions have been high in Muzaffarnagar since the Aug. 27 murder of two young Hindu men.

The weekend’s violence was set off by a video purporting to show the lynching of the two youths, the state’s interior minister, Kamal Saxena, said, adding that the video, which has been taken off the Web, was made two years ago and was not filmed in Uttar Pradesh.

The broadcast of the video was what sparked the clashes Saturday between Hindu and Muslim communities, during which a mosque was attacked and guns and machetes were used.

Among those detained by police for inciting hatred were some regional politicians, media outlets said. EFE
