Knife-wielding man attempts to steal gun from police in bid to get arrested

Police in Tokyo said Saturday they have arrested a man who walked into a police koban brandishing a knife and demanded to be given a gun.According to police, the man, who has been named as 52-year-old Masatoshi Kanda, walked into the koban is Nishi-Tokyo on Thursday, brandishing a knife and ordered police officers to hand over a firearm, TBS reported. He was arrested at the scene on a charge of attempted robbery.
During police questioning, Kanda was quoted by police as saying: “Life has been hard and I wanted to get arrested. I thought if I stole a gun, the crime would be more serious.”
