The suspect was able to sneak through an apartment gate just before it closed in the area of 300 E. Roosevelt St. on March 19.
He pretended he was looking for another apartment at around 8:20 p.m.and followed the woman to her unit.
Rothschild said the suspect then attempted to force his victim into the bedroom of her apartment.
When the woman’s roommate appeared, the suspect fled into an elevator, where he began to change his clothing, Rothschild said. The man then escaped.
“We need to identify and locate this suspect so he does not attempt this again,” Rothschild said.
