BANGUI, Central African Republic: The UN envoy to the Central African Republic called Thursday on the conflict-torn country to probe the public lynching of a suspected ex-rebel by soldiers and make an example of the culprits.
Babacar Gaye said the killing was “unacceptable” and “must be properly investigated and the culprits punished and made an example of.”


The soldiers lynched the man immediately after a military ceremony in the capital Bangui on Wednesday, beating and stabbing him before dragging his lifeless body through the streets, dismembering him and setting him on fire.
The gruesome attack happened mere moments after new interim president Catherine Samba Panza spoke of her pride in seeing the country’s armed forces contribute to national security again.
Gaye, the UN special envoy to CAR, condemned the atmosphere of impunity in the country that allowed “a man to be attacked in broad daylight.”
Asked about the inaction of African Union forces, who were present during the lynching but failed to intervene, Gaye said: “Just because they are authorized to act does not mean that they should immediately engage in an armed confrontation. Lethal force should be used with restraint.”
The lynching underscored the ongoing chaos in the country since the mainly Muslim Seleka rebel alliance seized power last March in the majority Christian country.
French and African troops have been struggling to quell the unrest since receiving the green light from the United Nations Security Council in early December.
The violence has displaced around a million people and is believed to have left thousands dead.

Twitter was abuzz with pictures and a video clip of a dead whale that had washed up on a beach in the southern Saudi province of Jizan.

Beach-goers came across a 15-meter long dead whale that is believed to have died more than a month ago.

According to Akhbaar24 news, fishermen said that whales had washed up in the area in the past as well.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (Feb 5, 2014) –Walmart employees in Battle Creek reported a possible sighting of Teleka Patrick, according to private investigator Jim Carlin. He said the tip came in on Sunday.
The 30-year-old doctor from Kalamazoo was last seen on December 5th, leaving the Borgess Medical Center parking lot.
Detective William Sparrow with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said he’s “checking on it, and [will] see where it leads.”
According to Carlin, the Patrick family’s private investigator, an employee spotted a woman near the jewelry counter that resembled the missing woman on Saturday. Carlin said a second employee also thought the woman looked like Patrick. However, the woman’s coat had a different color lining than the one Patrick wore the night she disappeared.
Sparrow told FOX 17 the office is checking “anything we can,” including surveillance video from the store. He said just a few tips have come in since the January 22nd press conference regarding Patrick.

A dark-skinned Saudi female pilot has sued another Saudi woman for calling her slave on Twitter.

Nawal Al Hawsawi is one of the very few qualified pilots among Saudi women. A pilot’s license holder from the US Federal Aviation, Al Hawsawi said that an unnamed woman referred to her as “Abda” (which means slave) on her twitter page.

Besides the obvious defamation, Al Hawsawi said that she filed a case against the local woman as she wants to deal with the problem of racism that is prevalent in the kingdom, according to Akhbaar24 news. Experts expect the Saudi pilot to win the suit against the virtual antagonist.

Torreon, Coahuila. By three bullets, two in the head, a man was killed on the afternoon of Monday in a housing subdivision Villas San Agustin the subjects who arrived in a black car that also wounded another young woman, who reported serious.

Pakistan ( Gunmen on motorcycles " kill 4 police officers " )

KARACHI: Gunmen on motorcycles late Monday shot dead four policemen in Pakistan’s largest city of Karachi, police said.
The incident occurred in Ibrahim Haidri area, a poor neighborhood in the eastern part of the port city where the policemen were on duty.
“The attackers came on motorcycles, they opened fire on the police and fled away,” senior police official Munir Shaikh told AFP, adding that “all four policemen died in the attack.”
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Karachi, a city of 18 million people which contributes 42 percent of Pakistan’s GDP, has been plagued by sectarian, ethnic and political violence for years.
Rangers are currently taking part in a joint operation with police in Karachi aimed at cleansing the city of terrorists and other hardcore criminals, including hired killers, gun runners and drug peddlers.
