IRAN: Women in Sanandaj and Esfahan protest death of Farinaz Khosravani

NCRI - In an act to support the valiant uprising of the people of Mahabad, a number of women in the city of Sanandaj demonstrated against the death of Farinaz Khosravani. In this demonstration on Sunday, May 10, protestors chanted: “Mahabad is not alone, Sanandaj supports it”
On Saturday, May 9, hundreds of women rights activists in Esfahan assembled in Ashrafi Esfahani Street to protest the death of Farinaz Khosravani. Two of the victims of acid-splashing of the last few months were among the protestors who called for the trial of the perpetrators of these sort of crimes, especially those who splash acid on women.
Ms. Farinaz Khosravani, 26, was a computer graduate and an employee of Tara Hotel in Mahabad who on May 4 plunged from the fourth floor of this hotel and was killed immediately in order to escape the aggression of a mullahs’ intelligence agent.
Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), in a message to the Iranian people, especially the noble women, called for the expansion of the protests and for solidarity with the Kurdish people and in particular with the courageous women and youth of city of Mahabad and asked them to rise up and join this protest movement against suppression, crime and heinous acts by this antihuman regime.
Chair of the NCRI Women’s Committee stated that the shocking death of Farinaz Khosravani betrays the misogynic and deplorable nature of the velayat-e faqih regime in its entirety; a regime that oppresses the defenseless women on the mullah-fabricated pretext of mal-veiling in the streets of cities throughout Iran everyday and conducts patrols to enforce hijab, splashes acid, or attacks women students with knives everyday to exert ever-increasing pressure on the noble Iranian women. On the other hand, its leaders and officials refrain from no villainy or wickedness against the Iranian women.

“The heartbreaking death of Farinaz, this young woman, or the execution of Rayhaneh Jabbari, both in their youth, who lost their lives for facing up to the vicious intentions of regime’s intelligence agents, as well as the suicide of women in protest against the tyranny and oppression of mullahs demonstrates that the noble Iranian women have decided not kneel to the villainies and repression of this antihuman and misogynic regime in whatever manner possible despite the unparalleled gender discrimination, repression and atrocities,” she added.
Ms. Chitsaz said that it is many years now that the Iranian women are on the forefront of the struggle against the antihuman clerical regime and doubtless these very women will eliminate the regime of velayat-e faqih from the Iranian history.

2 Tons of Cocaine Seized by police ( On the way to the U.S )

QUITO – Ecuadorian police seized 2.2 tons of cocaine that was intended for shipment to the United States in sacks of zeolite, a porous mineral used as an absorbent in the agricultural and petrochemical sectors, the Interior Ministry reported Tuesday.

Deputy Interior Minister Diego Fuentes said in remarks broadcast by Ecuavisa television that five suspects were arrested in the operation, including four employees and the legal representative of a company that is under investigation by Ecuadorian authorities.

In addition, according to initial reports, the planned destination for the drug was the United States, although the boat on which it was to be shipped was due to make stops in Guatemala and Mexico.

The coke was found in a cargo of 1,600 sacks of zeolite, 82 of which had been wholly or partially filled with it.

According to Fuentes, the investigation lasted four months and it is presumed that the company involved alternated regular shipments of zeolite with others in which cocaine was added to the cargo.

“This was the biggest shipment,” said the official.

So far this year, Ecuadorian police have seized 32 tons of drugs, 25 tons of which were earmarked for international distribution and 7 tons of which were for internal consumption, Ecuavisa said.

Putin is holding meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry

SOCHI, May 12. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry at the Bocharov Ruchei residence.
US Secretary of State John Kerry is welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the presidential residence of Bocharov Ruchey in Sochi
This is Putin’s first meeting with a senior US official since the cooling of relations over the Ukrainian crisis.
Kerry arrived at Bocharov Ruchei after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Presidential press-secretary Dmitry Peskov earlier said the diplomats would brief Putin on the results of their contacts.
Peskov said the Kremlin had welcomed Kerry’s decision to visit Russia, because that would contribute to the dialogue and to progress towards the normalization of relations and tight coordination in international issues.
"It is very positive the US Secretary of State made a decision to hold contacts with his Russian counterpart," he said. "This is a positive development in itself, because we have stated more than once at various levels (the president said this, too) that Russia has never been the initiator of a cool-off in relations. We have always remained open to manifestations of political will to have a wider dialogue.".

Suspects in smuggling explosives to Saudi Arabia had Iranian connections

Saudi Arabian Interior Ministry announced on May 9 that a vehicle entering that country from Bahrain was smuggling in explosives that were promptly confiscated.
Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath website based in Dubai reported on May 11 that the vehicle was entering Saudi Arabia via the King Fahd Bridge that connects the two countries. Saudi customs detected the explosives and arrested the culprits. The vehicle was a Ford Fusion and it was carrying more than 30 kilograms of RDX, a highly explosive material, under its back seat. There were also 25 explosive capsules with 6 meter long wicks ready to use.
In a successful cooperation between the two countries, Bahrain arrested five suspects in this plot. Asharq al-Awsat reported on May 10 that Bahrain’s Interior Ministry arrested the suspects once they were identified.
Major General Tareq al-Hassan, Bahraini Chief of Public Security Department explained that in the search conducted on the houses of the arrestees, material suspicious of being explosive, mobile phones, laptops, digital equipment and cameras, contacts with Iran, as well as Saudi, Jordanian and Iranian currencies, were confiscated.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen. Iranian mullahs have repeatedly threatened the Saudis for their initiative in Yemen. An Iranian official had threatened that if explosions take place in the capitals of countries supporting the Decisive Storm Operation, these countries would abandon their support for the war in Yemen.
