The Colombian navy discovered a cache of cocaine deep in the jungle near the pacific coast on Thursday. The street value of the drug is estimated at $14 million.
The drug shipment of more than 1,200 pounds was discovered during a naval operation in the Bahia Solano municipality in the northwestern Choco department. Authorities deemed that the cocaine was of high purity, according to El Espectador.
In the same operation troops located a nearby camp, where it is believed the drug traffickers had lived. The camp had the capacity to accommodate up to eight people. Also found were a shotgun, six cartridges, 350 pounds of food and a briefcase containing personal documents.
So far this year, the Colombian navy has seized about two tons of cocaine on the Pacific coast.
