Taghi Mahmoudi, a friend of Javid Hutan-kian wrote in his Facebook regarding the tortures imposed on this lawyer.
“When I visited Javid Hutan, lawyer of Sakine Ashtiani (woman sentenced to death by stoning) in prison back in April 2011 he had undergone various types of physical tortures such as a broken nose and teeth, feet being burned and his arms had scars from cigarette burns.
“After enduring three years of unfair detention Javid was released from prison under a ruling saying he could no longer tolerate the punishment, and when he went to see physicians outside of prison they all said various parts of his body were burned by alkaline substances!
“Such bone burns are from cigarettes… currently, in addition to being banned from practicing law, all of Javid’s moveable and immovable property has been confiscated and his home has been locked. He is now living at a friend’s house with his wife.”
