Brazilian Woman Dies While Visiting Machu Picchu ( Ancient Inca citadel )

LIMA – A 57-year-old Brazilian woman died after passing out while visiting the ruins of Machu Picchu, Peruvian authorities reported in a communique.

Maria de Fatima Cavati was strolling around the ancient Inca citadel with her three sisters on Monday when she fainted in the area of the archaeological park known as Doce Puertas.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor who was also visiting the ruins and who came to her aid after being alerted to the situation by park workers.

The physician tried unsuccessfully to revive her by administering oxygen and using other medical instruments provided by the citadel staff.

Peruvian police transported the body to a police station in the town of Machu Picchu at the request of the local prosecutor’s office.
