Five Juárez police officers, including a police commander, were shot and killed at a party Wednesday night -- the deadliest attack on police officers so far this year.
Officials said gunmen burst into a party and gunned down the officers about 8:15, said Juárez police spokesman Adrian Sanchez Contreras.
Two other officers were wounded and were listed in serious condition, officials said late Wednesday.
"They are working right now in an operation in the entire city to find those responsible," Sanchez Contreras said.
18 cops killed in 3 months in the city of juarez.
None of the victims were identified Wednesday night.
A police spokesman said that about 18 police officers have been killed in Juárez this year.
The incident on Wednesday night was believed to be the single deadliest attack on law enforcement in Juárez since a car bomb exploded in downtown in 2010.
Officials are continuing their search for a 2 year old toddler that went missing yesterday. The child’s name is Devin Davis a 2 year old boy who recently moved to the area with his family from Virginia.
Devin Davis has red hair, blue eyes and weighs about 40 pounds at 2 foot and 6 inches tall. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, spider man sneakers and a burgundy and gray jersey.
Police have issues an AMBER ALERT and have brought in resources from all surrounding areas to help search for Devin.
Devin’s mom noticed he was missing after waking up from a nap. Reports claim that the family is having a difficult time and remain very worried about Devin.
The search continued full force at daybreak this morning. Boats, helicopters, off road vehicles and other search teams have been brought in to assist the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. The search perimeter is heavily wooded and includes many areas with water.
Many volunteers and groups have now also joined the search for Devin in hopes of finding the missing boy.
As George Zimmerman's supporters work to stem the rising tide of public outrage aimed at the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin last month, a new picture of the victim—culled from the 17-year-old's Facebook and Twitter accounts and witness testimony—has emerged.
"With a single punch," the Orlando Sentinel, citing police sources, reported Monday, "Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer ... climbed on top of [him] and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered."
"That is the account Zimmerman gave police," the paper said, "and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say."
Zimmerman's attorney, Craig Sonner, says that Zimmerman acted in self-defense and is not a racist as some have portrayed him.
"I think we need to let the investigation come forward and let all the facts in this case come out," Sonner said on the "Today" show. "I think it's going to tell a different story than the way it's been related and portrayed in the media."
According to a CNN poll released Monday, 73 percent of Americans think police should arrest Zimmerman.
Meanwhile, the difference between the typical teenager Martin's family and supporters say he was and the way he presented himself on social media is the subject of increasing debate. As Dan Linehan, a blogger at Wagist.com, pointed out, correspondence with Martin on Twitter before he died alludes to an incident with a bus driver. "Yu ain't tell me you swung on a bus driver," Martin's cousin wrote to him on Feb. 21.
The same week, Martin was suspended for 10 days from Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School in North Miami-Dade. "He was not suspended for something dealing with violence or anything like that," his father said. "It wasn't a crime he committed, but he was in an unauthorized area [on school property]," declining to offer more details.
But a family spokesman told the Associated Press on Monday that Martin was suspended because marijuana residue was found in his book bag.
A woman from Iraq who was found beaten, lying in a pool of blood in her in El Cajon, Calif., home next to a note saying "go back to your country," has died and police are investigating her death as a possible a hate crime.
Shaima Alawadi's 17-year-old daughter found her unconscious on the dining room floor of her home Wednesday. She was taken to the hospital and put on life support, but she was taken off life around 3 p.m. Saturday.
VERY SAD I LIVED IN EL CAJON AND HAD MANY FRIENDS FROM IRAQ
"Our understanding is that she was beaten and she was hit with some kind of a tool about 8 times in the head. She was knocked on the floor and was found in a pool of blood," said Hanif Mohebi, the director of the San Diego chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Alawadi was a 32-year-old mother of five children, ranging in age from eight to 17.
"A week ago they left a letter saying this is our country not yours you terrorist, and so my mom ignored that thinking it was just kids playing a prank," Alawadi's daughter, Fatima Al Himidi, told ABC News affiliate KGTV. "But the day they hit her, they left another note again, and it said the same thing."
Al Himidi told KGTV the intruders did not steal anything from their home, and the only motive must have been hate.
"A hate crime is one of the possibilities, and we will be looking at that," Lt. Mark Coit said, according to The Associated Press. "We don't want to focus on only one issue and miss something else."
Al Awadi immigrated to the United States from Iraq in the mid-1990s.
There is a large Iraqi population in El Cajon, Mohebi said, and its members often face "discriminatory hate incidents."
"Our ultimate goal is that whoever did this is brought to justice," Mohebi said
SANFORD — Members of the New Black Panther Party are offering a $10,000 reward for the "capture" of George Zimmerman, leader Mikhail Muhammad announced during a protest in Sanford today.
The bounty announcement came just moments after members of the group called for the mobilization of 5,000 black men to capture George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who shot Trayvon Martin last month.
The New Black Panthers will hold a protest in Sanford just before 1 p.m. today, the activist group's third protest in the past two weeks over the fatal shooting of the Miami teen.
The group protested the killing of Trayvon earlier this week by gathering outside of Sanford Police Department Thursday. A group of about 40 people gathered then in front of the Sanford Police Department with leaders of the New Black Panther Party.
A 13-year-old boy who police say was doused with gasoline and lit on fire last week while walking home from school is recovering from first-degree burns to his face and head.
The boy was just two blocks from his home in Kansas City Tuesday when two teenagers began to follow him and then attacked him, his mother, Melissa Coon, said.
Police have described the suspects as black 16-year-olds, while the victim is white.
"We were told it's a hate crime," Coon told KTLA.
Mother of 13 year old boy Melissa Coon.
"They rushed him on the porch as he tried to get the door open," Coon told KMBC. "(One of them) poured the gasoline, then flicked the Bic, and said, 'This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy.'"
By lighting the gasoline, the second attacker "produced a large fireball burning the face and hair" of the boy, according to a Kansas City Police Department report obtained by KCTV.
"It was pretty bad stuff," Detective Stacey Taylor told the TV station, adding that police are concerned the boy may have suffered damage to his eyes and lungs.
Coon said her son put out the fire with his shirt and called 911 himself. He was rushed to the hospital and was treated for his injuries.
She believes the students also attend East High School with her son, and said he will not be returning to the school. She also told KMBC her traumatized family plans now plans to move.
NBC news was (Quoted as saying ) Federal laws do not apply to the Trayvon Martin Case.
Wearing a hoodie. Listening to music and talking on his cellphone. Picking up Skittles for his soon-to-be stepbrother. Friends say that's how they would have imagined 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on a Sunday afternoon.
Starting a fight? Possibly high on drugs and up to no good? No, friends say that description of Martin from the neighborhood crime-watch volunteer who shot and killed the unarmed black teenager doesn't match the young man they knew.
FEDERAL HATE CRIMES: TITLE 18 249
(a) In General.—
(1) Offenses involving actual or perceived race, color, religion, or national origin.— Whoever, whether or not acting under color of law, willfully causes bodily injury to any person or, through the use of fire, a firearm, a dangerous weapon, or an explosive or incendiary device, attempts to cause bodily injury to any person, because of the actual or perceived race, color, religion, or national origin of any person—
Authorities in California said Tuesday that the father of a 15-year-old girl who went missing last week on her way to school is not a suspect in the ongoing search.
"He is not a person of interest in Sierra’s disappearance and has been fully cooperative since the beginning of the investigation," police said in a statement, according to MSNBC.
Friends, family and Morgan Hill community members gathered for a vigil at Ann Sobrato High School to grieve and pray for Sierra Lamar, who vanished shortly after leaving her home around 6 a.m. last Friday.
The girl's mother, Marlene Lamar, first learned that her daughter was missing when she received a message from the school's automated attendance system.
Update 5-23-2012 murder suspect in custody
As part of the investigation, authorities interviewed registered sex offenders in the area, among them the girl's father, Steve Wayne LaMar. Police say that both parents have been accommodating to authorities and are not considered suspects at this time.
Coral Springs police working off a tip discovered the car of missing woman Maria Claudia Murphy, according to a release from the department.
An anonymous caller notified the police Tuesday evening that they saw the black BMW convertible in a parking lot of a restaurant in the 7900 block of Sample Road.
Surveillance video from the restaurant where Murphy's car was found shows her getting out of her car and walking toward Sample Road around 1 p.m. Friday, reports Local 10.
Police say Murphy then went missing after depositing $5,000 at an ATM for her and her husband’s impending move to Tennessee.
According to WPTV, she did not have her cell phone with her when she went out, and her credit and debit cards show no activity since the deposit on Friday.
Family told police that she had been sick the week prior. But Coral Springs Police Lt. Joe McHugh told WSVN "there is nothing to indicate that she has a diminished state of mind. However, we don't know really what has happened. That is why we're here. We're asking for help."
The booming in Clintonville continued Monday and Tuesday nights and into Wednesday morning, eventually prompting Van Beek to take her three sons to her father's home, 10 minutes away, so they could get some uninterrupted sleep.
If the number of phone calls to police is any indication, it was a relatively quiet night Wednesday. Police received several calls early Thursday morning, compared to more than 100 overnight Sunday to Monday when the racket began.
About 300 people attended a public meeting Wednesday night in a local high school auditorium to get an update on the situation. City Administrator Lisa Kuss (KOOS) assured residents that officials are doing everything they can to determine the source of the booming. But they still don't know what's behind the mysterious booms.
There have been no reports of injury, despite some residents saying they could feel the ground roll beneath their feet.
City officials say they have investigated every possible human cause. They checked water, sewer and gas lines, contacted the military about any exercises in the area, reviewed permits for mining explosives and inspected a dam next to City Hall. They even tested methane levels at the landfill in case the gas was spontaneously exploding.
Authorities in Big Spring, Texas, confirmed that human remains were found near the McMahon Wrinkle Airpark Tuesday afternoon. The airpark is about one mile from the home of the mother of Shawn Adkins, Hailey Dunn's mother's boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, and the only named person of interest in the case.
Det. Sgt. Tony Everett said the remains appeared to have been there "for a long period of time," according to the San Angelo Standard Times. Everett said an FBI evidence recovery team from Dallas is expected to process the scene this morning.
After a nationwide outcry, the U.S. Justice Department said late Monday it would investigate the fatal shooting last month of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed African-American teenager, in Florida.
"The department will conduct a thorough and independent review of all of the evidence and take appropriate action at the conclusion of the investigation," it said in a statement. "The department also is providing assistance to and cooperating with the state officials in their investigation into the incident."
On Tuesday afternoon, the state attorney for Brevard and Seminole counties, Norman Wolfinger, said his office would conduct its own investigation, beginning April 1o.
The federal probe, to be conducted by the FBI and the Justice Department's civil rights division, looks set to focus on whether the shooter, George Zimmerman, violated 17-year-old Martin's civil rights by targeting him because of his race.
Zimmerman, a white Hispanic, was patrolling the streets of a gated community in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26 when he spotted Martin and told a police dispatcher that a "black male" was acting "suspicious." Zimmerman, 28, ignored a warning from the dispatcher not to pursue Martin, and a violent confrontation ensued, leaving Martin dead. Zimmerman told local police he acted in self-defense, and he has not been detained or charged, though questions have been raised about the thoroughness of the police investigation.
Jason Russell, the filmmaker behind the mega-viral "Kony 2012" documentary, was arrested in San Diego on Thursday night, NBC reported, citing the San Diego Police Department.
Russell, 33, "was taken into custody after he was found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something," NBC's San Diego affiliate reported, citing San Diego Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Andra Brown.
The San Diego Police Department's Brown did not immediately return two messages left Friday from Yahoo News.
The co-founder of the San Diego-based advocacy group Invisible Children was detained on San Diego's Pacific Beach "acting very strange" the NBC report said.
SEATTLE (AP) — The soldier accused of killing 16 Afghan villagers is expected to be flown to a U.S. military prison as early as Friday, a senior defense official said, as the soldier's attorney spoke of the impact the fighting had on his client.
The defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of security surrounding the move, said the soldier would go the facility at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., the military's only maximum-security prison.
The suspect was moved from Afghanistan to Kuwait on Wednesday because, officials said, there was no appropriate detention facility to hold him in Afghanistan.
The Kuwaiti military said in a statement carried on the state news Friday that the U.S. military "has flown out the soldier, who was in Kuwait in transit and left the country this afternoon."
The U.S. defense official said moving the soldier does not necessarily mean a decision was imminent on announcing formal criminal charges against the suspect.
For many years I was the main consultant to Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation run by Jonah Shacknai. I popularized their injectable filler Restylane for wrinkle and lip augmentation by giving courses throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Simultaneously Jonah used unlicensed foreign doctors and sponsored courses and their educational seminars. At many of the courses these individuals would treat patients. The main example of this was Drs. Jean and Alastair Carruthers of Vancouver who created and distributed a CD of my work and injection techniques through Johns Hopkins! Furthermore, Jean published a paper describing my technique in which she positioned herself as the senior author. in whichdecided she would be the senior author on a lip injection paper. Subsequently,I did a lip study for Medicis and then spent over 40 hours writing this pivitol paper on lip enhancement with Restylane. The paper had to be accurate and not like the ghastly ghost written “data” that floods the medical literature. I also warned Medicis not to present this data to the FDA in that it contained my personal injection techniques. I would expect that it is very unusual for someone else to present the data. Contrary to my agreement with Medicis they never published the paper I wrote on lip augmentation and they presented my data to the FDA to expand the lip study to multiple sites. With this expanded lip data Medicis gained FDA approval for lip augmentation. As the money kept rolling in Jonah’s houses kept getting larger and larger with Jonah himself developing extreme arrogance totally losing contact with reality and developed a tremendous overestimation of his capabilities, especially in regard to his power. Needless to say though I had a signed agreement with Medicis for my initial study on lips and the paper for $280,000 this did not include the expanded studies and the work that would lead to FDA approval in which they promised participation. But Jonah never paid me and ceased to talk to me but as his wealth increased so did his satyriasis --- his excessive, often uncontrollable sexual desire. Maybe this was his desire to remain forever young. But this illness may very well account for what happened at the Spreckles mansion as it did for the action at Dupont Estate in Deleware.

"Zahau was sacrificed in satanic cult style. The pig, bound and gagged presented to the full moon. The unlit white candle, the writing on the wall asking that she be delivered to hell for what she did to the boy. Ask the man that worships the serpant. Follow the gold pieces."
Newser) – As an LAPD officer, Stephanie Lazarus knew how to cover her tracks after murdering the woman who married her ex-lover—but she didn't know DNA evidence would come back to bite her 26 years later. Saliva from a bite mark Lazarus left on her victim's arm yielded evidence that has led to her conviction for the 1986 murder. She now faces a sentence of 25 years to life, AP reports. Cold case investigators followed their fellow officer after they began to suspect her, and managed to collect her DNA from a discarded cup.
(Dirty Cop)
The victim was beaten around the head and shot three times in the chest. Detectives initially believed burglars were responsible, despite her father's suggestion that they investigate his son-in-law's ex-girlfriend. Lazarus, who retired from the force while awaiting trial, rose through the ranks in the decades after the murder. LAPD chief Charlie Beck—who worked closely with Lazarus—apologized to the victim's family for the long delay in bringing the killer to justice. "This case was a tragedy on every level," he said. "The LAPD family felt a sense of betrayal to have an officer commit such a terrible crime."
When Realtor Scott Aurich went before a city commission Wednesday to pitch restoration plans for the Spreckels mansion, the chairman, Jon Ryan asked an unusual question – “Who is the applicant?”
Aurich acknowleged that person is Jonah Shacknai, despite the announcement in October that he had sold the residence.
He had, but due to a prolonged escrow process, Shacknai, owner of the Arizona pharmaceuticals firm Medicis, still holds sway over the mansion, though a deal remains in place to transfer title to an investment group, 1043 Ocean Blvd. LLC.
Aurich told the commission Coronado resident Joe Pinsonneault, a developer, is among the group members.
HURRY UP ANNE DO YOUR INVESTIGATION PEOPLE ARE MOVING IN HAHA!
The group has the right to remodel, market and sell the house while it remains in escrow. Aurich said that he has a prospect interested in the mansion who is onboard with the restoration proposal. Still, any changes to the house have to be approved by Shacknai.
PHOENIX (AP) — Actor Steven Seagal and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office are being sued over a 2011 arrest that a Phoenix-area man says was staged for a reality TV show.
Jesus Llovera says Seagal and deputies unlawfully raided his home because they thought Llovera was raising fighting roosters.
Llovera says the birds on his property were for show and not for fighting.
The civil suit asks for a jury to determine unspecified monetary damages.
The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/AihPu1 ) reports the Sheriff's Office was participating in the creation of a reality show, "Steven Seagal: Lawman," that followed Seagal's exploits as a deputized officer.
The Sheriff's Office insists in court documents that the use of a tank, a bomb robot and 40 deputies was part of its normal course of duties.
The death toll from dozens of tornadoes that ravaged parts of the Midwest and South last week has reached 39 with the death of Baby Angel, the toddler found next to the bodies of her family members in a field near their Indiana home.
She died Sunday from traumatic brain injury after her family removed her from life support.
Fifteen-month-old Angel Babcock was taken by helicopter to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky., Saturday and placed in critical condition. Angel died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday afternoon after her grandmother, Kathy Babcock, made the decision with other family members to take her off life support.
"I had my arm around her when she took her last breath," Babcock said in an exclusive interview with ABC News. "I sang to her itsy-bitsy spider."
Angel's mother, Moriah Babcock, 20, father Joseph Babcock, 21, and two siblings Jayden and Kendall were found dead in the same field as the toddler Friday afternoon. Angel's grandmother told ABC News that when she let her granddaughter go Sunday afternoon, she knew the baby girl was going in the arms of her father.
