A Florida man has been charged with preventing firefighters from putting out a fire in his home because he was hiding pot plants.
Gaetano Rodriguez, 27, allegedly refused to unlock the door to a bedroom despite the fact that firefighters needed to enter the room to battle a fire inside.
St. Petersburg firefighters were called to the house Rodriguez was renting after reports of a fire. However, when they informed Rodriguez they needed to enter a locked bedroom he refused to unlock the door.
Firefighters were forced to break down the door and once inside discovered about 100 potted marijuana plants.
Though Rodriguez eventually admitted he planned to the sell the pot, he first claimed it was for his own medicinal use.
For obstructing firefighters, Rodriguez was taken to Pinellas County Jail. He was also charged with cultivating marijuana.
The home that Rodriguez was renting reportedly belongs to his father.
A New Mexico woman and her newborn baby are said to be doing well after the mother was struck by lightning.
On July 4th, a very pregnant Kendra Villanueva, her partner, Ian Gordon, and a group of friends were sitting in the front yard of an Albuquerque home watching the fireworks. After noticing a storm approaching, the group was heading inside.
As they were grabbing their belongings however, a bolt of lightning struck right in the middle of the group.
A witness said Villanueva, who was and Gordon were knocked out, but regained consciousness within moments. Luckily, firefighters had just finished a call nearby and were able to arrive at Villanueva’s aid within minutes.
Villanueva was just two weeks from her due date when the lightning struck, and when she arrived at the hospital doctors performed an emergency caesarean section.
Newborn Kimberly Samantha Rose Gordon is said to be doing well, as is her mother. According to a University of New Mexico Hospital doctor, there have only been 11 recorded incidents of pregnant women being struck by lightning, with only about half of the babies surviving.
Her father is also doing well and is thinking of nicknaming the baby Flash Gordon, a nod to the flash of lightning that brought her into the world

Department of Corrections " refuses to give her a copy of the incident report
regarding her sons shooting death. She feels the Guards at Susanville State
Prison just fired into a crowd killing her son and there is no evidence that he
was the inmate stabbing the victim. Ms. Viruegas said that the online
autopsy report keeps changing about how her son died or " was shot in the head "

She feels the department is trying to
cover up a bad " shooting " by the Tower Guard . If the department releases the
recorded camera footage of the incident it would clear up this issue .

The young lady who died the night of the shooting was " Marcella" a friend of Christopher's . Her mother Lisa Ortiz and Sonjia and a Few other women have started a group called " Mothers with a message ". A 23-year-old San Diego man who was fatally shot by
prison guards while he was attacking another inmate was identified Tuesday as
convicted murderer Christopher A. Sanchez, prison officials said.
Sanchez was serving a sentence of 85
years to life in prison for the 2009 murder of Marcella Peraza at an Encanto
birthday party. He was also convicted of attempted murder for wounding a
19-year-old man.
He had fought with others outside the
party, then later fired shots into a residential street, striking the
victims.
Sanchez was serving time at High Desert
State Prison in Susanville when he and another inmate attacked a third on Friday
morning, according to the California Department of Corrections and
Rehabilitation. The victim was stabbed with an improvised weapon.
Sanchez and his accomplice ignored
numerous orders from correctional officers to stop, and one guard fired at
Sanchez, prison officials said.
The 29-year-old victim suffered numerous
stab wounds and injuries to his head. The other attacker was not wounded.
Authorities have not released their names.
