“Voices of Iran” rally on Sep. 28 to condemn Rouhani’s UN visit

NCRI - As the Iranian regime’s President Hassan Rouhani attends the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, September 28, representatives of Iranian-American communities from across the U.S. will hold a major rally – entitled “Voices of Iran” – to denounce the deteriorating state of human rights in Iran and the recent wave of executions during Rouhani’s tenure, the rally's organizers have announced.
"Several second-generation Iranians are expected to speak on the need to protect freedoms and establish democracy in Iran," the Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC) said in a statement on its website.

"The rally follows recent reports of grave concerns about unprecedented violations of human rights under Rouhani’s watch from both the UN Secretary General and the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran."

"A bi-partisan group of U.S. dignitaries and Members of Congress will also participate in the rally. They will warn that ignoring ongoing human rights violations in Iran as well as the growth of terrorism and meddling in the region will only embolden the regime and allow it to continue brutal crackdowns and escalating violence."

Speakers at the rally are to include Bill Richardson, former U.S. ambassador to the UN and U.S. Energy Secretary; Tom Ridge, former U.S. Homeland Security Secretary and Governor of Pennsylvania; and Allan Dershowitz, former Harvard Law School professor.

"The rally will raise awareness about the hundreds of thousands of people around the world who are calling for regime change, freedom, and democracy in Iran," the OIAC said.
When: Monday, September 28, 2015; 11:00 AM
Where: Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, opposite the United Nations in New York.
