A dozen drug smugglers carrying 1,250 pounds of marijuana were arrested Tuesday night by Border Patrol agents southwest of Tucson.
The marijuana was worth about $650,000.
Agents spotted the smugglers carrying bundles near the community of Pia Oik on the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation, about 10 miles north of the Mexico border.
Eleven adults and one juvenile were taken into custody.
The smugglers are facing drug smuggling charges. The drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
