Brinks armored truck robbed in Sunrise, guard opens fire on suspects
The FBI is searching for two suspects who may have been wounded during a brazen daylight robbery of a Brinks armored truck courier in Sunrise Thursday morning.
The ambushed occurred at 10 a.m. when two gunmen approached an unidentified courier and demand his bag of money from a pick-up at Space Coast Credit Union branch.
Knocked to the ground, the FBI said the guard opened fired on the suspects as they ran away and may have wounded them. There were no other injuries.
A video released by the FBI shows the suspects ambushing the courier, running off as the he fires several shots at the men from the ground.
The robbers made off with cash, but the amount will not be released.
Brinks is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the subject. The reward expires January 27.
The FBI said it is believed the suspects used a stolen white Honda Accord to make their initial getaway. The car was later found abandoned nearby.
A second vehicle, seen leaving the area of the abandoned getaway car and believed to be used by the robbers to leave the area, is a silver in color 4-door sedan resembling a 2001 Lexus E300. The car has a rear spoiler and a dent near the trunk keyhole.
